CALL THE SENATORS TO TELL THEM TO VOTE NO ON THIS BILL-- SB956!  Then call GOVERNOR CHARLIE CRIST, The People's Governor, at 850-488-4441, and tell him to VETO the bill, if it ever gets to his doorstep!

BREAKING NEWS:  The financial impact statement presented in the meeting packet for today's Senate Ethics and Elections Committee meeting on SB956 is FOR THE WRONG BILL. A financial impact statement is REQUIRED!  See page 126 of http://www.flsenate.gov/cgi-bin/View_Page.pl?Tab=committees&Submenu=1&File=index.html&Directory=committees/senate/EE/
and see page 128 for the date of the bill being considered today.
(The entire relevant pages for today's meeting are PP 126-199.)

That financial impact statement was written MARCH 26, 2009 for the ALEXANDER BILL.  It says there is NO IMPACT ON MUNICIPALITIES AND COUNTIES.  The Bill being addressed today was filed APRIL 14th by ALEX  DE LA PORTILLA and has HUGE IMPACTS ON COUNTIES AND MUNICIPALITIES!!!  (See page 128) for the date of the bill being reviewed today).

TELL THE SENATORS TO KILL THIS BILL.  THE IMPACTS ON VOTERS STATEWIDE WILL BE DISASTROUS!

THEN CALL CHARLIE CRIST AND TELL HIM TO GET HIS VETO PEN READY TO VETO THE BILL IF IT EVER SQUIRMS THROUGH THE LEGISLATIVE SAUSAGE-MACHINE TO HIS DOORSTEP!

DO NOT LET OUR OUTRAGEOUS HEAVILY PARTISAN-CONTROLLED LEGISLATURE GET AWAY WITH THIS POWER GRAB THAT WILL HURT ALL VOTERS IN FLORIDA!!

URGENT ALERT!  The Florida Legislature is planning a power-grab that will hurt voters, take away rights, and sweep out dozens of local ordinances.  Senate Elections bill SB956 goes to Committee Thursday, Apr.16th at 2:30 PM.

Tell them you oppose this bill because it

forces more voters to vote on provisional ballots, which have a high rejection rate
further restricts voter registration groups
imposes more restrictions on petition-gatherers
imposes arbitrary fines
expands the “no-solicitation zone”, keeping needed information from voters
further limits acceptable IDS, denying eligible voters the right to vote
increases the  purging of voter rolls, with no time to correct errors before elections
concentrates power in the Secretary of State, a partisan political appointee
sweeps away local ordinances and voter protections
PROTECT VOTERS' RIGHTS!  PROTECT OUR DEMOCRACY!
