This article offers an outsider's pre-election survey of the five battlegrounds on which the result of this struggle will depend. Massive election theft efforts have been/will be attempted, but the combination of the greater popularity of Obama, the support he has from a big section of the US ruling class, and the election-integrity movement cutting down the Reps room for manouvre, may defeat them. In which case only such vote-fixing will be allowed to happen or stand as gives Obama a sufficiently tight minority - in other words the same as 2006 - see Landslide Denied http://www.electiondefensealliance.org/landslide_denied_exit_polls_vs_vote_count_2006 .
At the risk of appearing to promote an unfalsifiable thesis, the fact that Obama may win doesn't mean that the election(s) won't have been corruptly manipulated, just that it/they will have been manipulated to a lesser degree and in the interests of a different faction of ruling power. If he wins, the hawks will try to crowd in on Obama and force him to stand by his AIPAC obeisance and hawkish positions on Afghanistan and Pakistan. Some may see the presentational utility of a black President as a front man for e.g. the (further) invasion of Africa?
Biden is making ominous neo-con noises about 'being severely tested' within six months, and being brave enough to be seriously unpopular .... . Having ratcheted society's frame of reference to the 'right', the neocons can live with Plan B even if we should still assume that they will fight like Hell for a third term.
As I see it McCain/Palin can 'win' eventually if they win – or appear to win or do well enough – in the following four, maybe five, arenas, at least in the crucial time period(s):
1) Jim Crow voter suppression – Hats off to the magnificent work of Robert Kennedy Jr, Greg Palast and many, many others. http://electionfraudblog.com/Let's hope the whole movement listens much better to the voice and historical experience of black people than e.g. Gore and his lawyers did in 2000, let alone Kerry conceding uncounted and blocked votes which weren't his to concede in 2004.

From all this mountain of evidence it is clear that large and otherwise undetected double-digit 'late-swings' have occurred in 1996 (Nebraska), 2000, 2002 (Georgia), 2004 and again in 2006 – always to the Republicans who clean up with a straight face usually helped by Democrat spinelessness to the point of virtual collusion ('No Baas, I didn't see nothing....') . Why won't they try it again if they think they can get away with it?
3) McCain/Palin are also out to win the battle of the 'narrative' - so that enough people reckon that McCain MAY JUST have won legally, though they personally are surprised, 'cos it didn't seem that way in their little patch. For this McCain and the ruling junta Powers that Be behind him need not just to win the war of spin but may also need and decide to fake actual events.
Remember that the neocons believe in manipulating events secretly, not just opinion polls and computerised 'voting'. In other words 'the faith-based community' are prepared to create facts which the rest of us (outside of the circle of the 'noble lie') don't understand:

It isn't hard to think of a whole host of actions and 'issues' and interpretations which could yet boost McCain's votes or could plausibly be spun (post-election) as having done so.

A) a 'failed attempt on the life of Cindy McCain who is lucky to have escaped alive but is recovering in hospital ...' ,
