Let's get to the nub of how things really are in this country.

Freedom of speech in America (and some countries in the EU) is a mirage.

If one disagrees with "official" policy they are demonized. If they don't condemn Russian President Vladimir Putin as the new Hitler they're considered a Putin apologist. If they question democracy in Ukraine-which is laughable as it's the most corrupt country in Europe-they're against democracy in that country. If they're against sending arms and $billions each year to Israel they're labeled as an anti Semite, even though it's a country that supports apartheid. And if they support the Palestinian's that are under siege in Gaza they're condemned as a defender of Hamas.

What happened to abiding by the 1st Amendment of the Constitution which for the uninitiated reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Apparently the "authorities" act with impunity believing they won't be challenged even as they ignore the Constitution. Yet when the people rise up and legally challenge them, which is their Constitutionally protected right to do so, the authorities brutally crack down on them.

So this America of the land of the free and the home of the brave are merely sweet sounding words that have no meaning when the Constitution, the law of the land, is disrespected and ignored.

That's the reality if anyone cares to look.
