As long-time allies Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogen and the President of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani contemplate a new war in the Middle East over northern Syria, the internal problems over their long standing oil agreement threaten political and military co-operation between Turkey and the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq (KRG).
When Massoud Barzani sought to establish his country on the value of the 40 million barrels of oil in his small area of Kurdistan, his goal was to control Kurdistan's wealth for his family by sharing it with the government of Turkey, in return for aid in his struggle against the real wishes of the Kurdish people and their chosen representatives, who are now in the middle of a war with Islamic terrorist organizations in Syria.
Both these leaders, combined with Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar have aided Islamic terrorist organizations in the Syrian war, but they have not been able to overthrow the Syrian Government. This is surprising, considering that President Obama's Government has side stepped some of its policies on terrorist organisations to aid this alliance against the government of Bashar al-Assad. However, not surprisingly, it follows the US Government's disastrous war in Iraq, which handed the country's wealth to Massoud Barzani, Jalal Talabani and the Shi'a Arabs of Iraq, with the loss of thousands of lives and trillions of dollars, resulting in the creation of yet another dictator in Iraq and ongoing corruption.
How deeply the Prime Minister of Turkey is involved in oil corruption is uncertain, but reports currently being examined by the Turkish media that he has advised his son to hide information from an investigation cast question over his credibility. Massoud Barzani and his father have also been known to bribe high-level officials in the past, including the Iranian officials who negotiated the transfer of funds to them from the Shah of Iran during his rule.
Fortunately, apparently realising what a shame it is for a leading super power to be manipulated by a tribal leader, the US Government has not listened to Barzani's recent submissions, and has sided with the Kurdish people in favour of their oil interests. It has also backed the Iraqi Government against Turkey in the current oil-sharing dispute.
However, in spite of their oil wars the Prime Minister of Turkey and Massoud Barzani are still helping Islamic terrorist organizations in Syria in their attempts to defeat the Kurdish people's revolution in Rojava, northern Syria. Both Erdogen and Barzani are digging ditches on the borders between Turkey and Syria and the KRG area and Syria, because they are afraid the Kurdish people's democratic, human rights revolution will spill over into Turkey and the KRG area of Kurdistan.
But this is only putting more pressure on the Kurdish people in Turkey, Iran and Iraq, who are more than ready to rise up against corruption and the economic and religious oppression under which they live. While the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) is known as a threat to the stability of the region and the well-being of millions, few realise that Massoud Barzani's government is also a tyrannical, out-dated, fundamentalist regime which deals with another US ally, Turkey, entirely in its own oligarchical interests.
More than two million Kurds, Arabs, Christians and other minority groups in northern Syria are facing well-funded, mercenary supplemented Islamic terrorist organizations to the south and the west of Rojava and Barzani's and Turkey's forces to the east and the north. Digging ditches on the borders of Kurdistan in order to kill a large number of people by denying them food is a crime against humanity.
The genocide war of attrition waged against the Kurdish people over the last fifty years must end. It is time for the UN to intervene and feed the civilian population in the Kurdish region of Syria.
