It often makes me wonder, why, with 300+ cable television channel to choose from, do I more often than not find myself in the company of "Friends"... or Raymond, or Jerry Seinfeld, or, yes, "That 70's Show"; a program which stirs our hearts and memories with a brief, loving look into the ongoing and heartfelt romance between young Eric Forman (portrayed by Topher Grace) and his neighbor and sweetheart (in a coming of age setting), Donna Pinciotti (the lovely Laura Prepon).
It always seems to be summer in Point Place, Wisconsin. The kids hang out and smoke a little pot in the Forman basement, enjoying the "We're all alright" friendship of Fez (Wilmer Valderrama), Hyde (Danny Masterson), Jackie (Mila Kuris), and Michael Kelso (Ashton Kutcher). We love Red Forman (Kurtwood Smith), and his dedicated spouse Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp).

We also delight to the presence of Eric's older and worldly sister, the light of Red Forman's eye, Laurie Forman, brought to us by pert and peppy Lisa Robin Kelly.

It is sad then to report that Lisa Kelly, who seemed happy then, went on to lead a life of violence and pain. She died, Wednesday, August 14, at a Las Angeles addiction treatment facility, where she was thought by most to be doing well in an effort to end a troubled time, laden with alcohol and drugs. An agent for Ms. Kelly told reporters, "She had been fighting demons for a while and finally lost her battle." Kelly, at the age now of 43, died in her sleep of cardiac arrest; responders found needle marks on both her arms.

Lisa Kelly was a victim of domestic battery earlier this year, at the hands of her estranged husband. That husband, Robert Joseph Gilliam, beat her, according to sources, to take control of money from residual airings of the 70's Show, and other ventures. A friend of Ms. Kelly indicated to reporters that the needle marks on her arms were the result of an attempt by nurses to remove alcohol-rich blood from Kelly. Her blood alcohol level at that time was recorded at .34.

Lisa Kelly worked hard for her money, having worked on "Married with Children", "Murphy Brown", the long running soap opera "Days of our Lives", an ABC "After School Special" titled "Moving Forward", as well as a long list of other parts and characters.

We'll miss Lisa, and we sympathize with her rough and troubled life and marriage.
