Sonnet: It's the Knowledge, Stupid
by John Kendall Hawkins
.
Those gripped by ressentiment are no longer able to create. They can only destroy. They gleefully ignite their own funeral pyre.

Verily, take my word, when I say they're coming
for your Meta timeline, and commentary tours
of blogs and sites, posts of others lost in the mores --
some held down by werewolves for a deep bumming --
dissidents and their screams of dissonance that flit
like hell bats in candle-lit dungeons of the mind,
shadows back and forth, Poe's pit blade, the double-bind
of ex-Gitmo ghouls on gigs, eyeball-deep in sh*t.
Chris Hedges calls it the age of human sadism,
the oxymoronic struggle on the tightwire,
inching from the beasts we were, their howling night choir
snapping at feet, mocking our "ber dogmatism.
Well, the Big Guy warned us, Stay away from that fruit,
but was plumb mum on the tempter in the zoot suit.
