Spiritually evolved people can be found in unlikely places. Botham Jean's brother, Brandt, is a stunning example in this statement he made in the courtroom, regarding Amber Guyger after her sentencing for his brother's murder. Brandt's obvious connection to all that is good is absolutely breathtaking.
On September 6, 2018, off-duty Dallas Police Department patrol officer Amber Guyger entered Botham Jean's apartment believing it was her own, which was in the same location but a different floor of the apartment building. She shot Jean believing he was a burglar. On October 1, 2019, Guyger was found guilty of murder and received a controversial sentence of ten years in prison.
Good Morning America interviewed Brandt about his statement, which received mixed reactions from his family. Whether you believe in the version of God that he understands, your own version, or no God at all, his strong but quiet commitment to honor, ethics and faith are stunningly apparent. This young man is one of the best examples of a highly evolved soul that I have been privileged to observe in my life. I suspect that myriads of people's lives have been changed for the better as a result of hearing his soul, as is evident by the family lawyer's words in this Good Morning America interview.
