FIRST: The upcoming 6th Pluto/Uranus Square

On Sunday December 14th and Monday December 15th, the 6th square between Uranus at 12*35' Aries and Pluto at 12*35' Capricorn occurs. But we're already feeling the energies, so stay centered and breathe! The possible outcome of these squares is the break-down of corrupt social policies and systems so we can create new, more viable structures. On a personal level, it's time to connect to your real desires and get your true needs met.

To recap: This series of 7 squares between Uranus, the planet of revolution and awakening and Pluto, the planet of death, rebirth and evolution began in 2012 and continues through March 2015. All 7 squares take place in the cardinal signs of Capricorn, our collective social structures, and Aries, our personal identity and vision. Our cultural institutions are dying (Pluto) and we have to wake up to our personal mission in life (Uranus). Cardinal signs indicate crucial situations that can't be put off. They require immediate attention, since cardinal signs signal the change of seasons. The wheel of life will keep turning, no matter what! If we fail to take responsible action, there will be consequences.

These planets first came together to begin a new cycle of evolution and revolution in the mid-60s in Virgo (the sign of personal integrity), beginning the revolution that is continuing today regarding the environment, women's rights, civil rights, holistic health, healthy foods, workers' rights and spiritual awareness. During the 60s, these energies gave rise to new ideas and beliefs which went against the grain of the culture. During the past 50 years, our society has integrated some parts of these revolutionary energies, but not all. Now these new beliefs and values need to be rooted more securely in our collective mindset. Our economic and social structures no longer serve the people and it's time to re-set our course, away from manipulation and domination and into real freedom and individual responsibility.

A square is a 90* angle which brings about a change in direction, a re-orientation of consciousness. A square's energy lets you know that you've come to a crossroads and now you must choose which path to take. A square calls for decisive action which entails struggle and assertive action, often causing lots of inner tension and friction but also opening up our awareness to new possibilities. For more on this powerful 6th square--the 6 energy providing a sense of balance and harmony--see my wisdom-of-astrology blog.

One essential outcome of the upcoming 6th Pluto/Uranus square on December 14th is to remember to keep what is tried and true while letting go of what no longer serves life. Only then can new, integral possibilities manifest. The Sagittarius Sun, very close to the degree of the Center of the Milky Way Galaxy, reminds us that getting back to our deepest values and ideals will help us walk a more conscious path, a path of self-awareness and choice. A sacred path that flows through every day of our lives.

The Catholic Church celebrates the sacred nature of this time of year before the Winter Solstice as Advent, a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Birth of the Christ Child. The name Advent comes from the Latin word adventus, meaning "coming", and is a translation of the Greek word parousia, meaning "presence, arrival, formal visit". Custom has turned it into a time to center, to go within in meditation to await with joyous expectation the arrival of God made (Hu)Man, the Christ Child. Our culture has turned this lovely custom of the joyous expectation of the return of Divine Light into a tension-filled push to produce a joyous expectation of Christmas presents and Santa's visit.

This month, with that 6th Pluto/Uranus square dominating the energies, would be a wonderful time to bring back the intention of Advent, if not its old structure. Place a Christmas wreath on the table with 4 candles in the 4 directions and a 5th candle in the center. Each week, light one of the 5 Advent candles and focus your meditations on the re-birth of the Light within you and in the world. Candles are symbols of the creative fire, so each embodies its magic in a different way. The first week's candle stands for hope, hope that a new life is possible. The second stands for the way, the process that makes that new life possible. The third stands for joy, the happiness you feel at the thought of that new life. The fourth stands for the Angelic Messenger, the vision, intuition or dream that opens you to what's coming. And the fifth stands for the Christ (spiritual consciousness) re-born within you.

Try it. During this month before Christmas, the expectation of the Rebirth of Spirit can give us the joy, light and longing for a better world that filled us as children. Why not?

When the Sun is in Sagittarius, it stands in the part of the sky where we see the Milky Way stars. We are looking into the center of the galaxy when we look at the Sun now. We are attuning to a more cosmic, elemental energy flow. We are coming into alignment with the rest of the Galaxy.

To allow the flow of this cosmic energy into our daily lives, we have to experiment with ourselves and with the world. First we have to pay attention to hope, process, joy, messages and spirit. As we listen to our intuition, trust our instincts and act on our feelings we make our world sacred again. Sacred, because the feelings, instincts, intuition and intellect we inhabit are gifts of spirit, holy and not to be used selfishly or maliciously. Gifts that help us become the possible human of the future.

Gemini Full Moon 2014

The Gemini Full Moon occurs on Saturday December 6, 2014 at 4:27am PST/ 7:27am EST/ 12:27pm GMT. According to Stephanie Austin in The Mountain Astrologer' s Dec. 2014/ Jan. 2015 issue (pg. 91), this full Moon occurs with the Sun on the degree of the Great Attractor, the gravitational center of a large group of galaxies circling it, ours included. It is an immense cluster of over 100,000 galaxies emitting enormous amounts of electromagnetic radiation and radio waves. Once again, the Sun, our life and light source, will be inundated with these new energies, and in turn will pass them along to us.
