A truck driver by trade, I was an elected local Teamster union officer for about 10 years. I served in various positions including two terms a president (principal officer).
During my years in trucking I had plenty of time to think about my personal philosophy, and I met people from all walks of life. I became a strong advocate for working class values, with the most important being single payer universal health care.
I retired from the Teamsters in 2006, and I went to work for the Pa. Dept. of Transportation as a driver license examiner. This is a great job for me to work with people, and it also give me the luxury of having regular hours, which allows me to devote time to volunteer activities.
I am the volunteer organizer for the Lehigh Valley Healthcare Reform Meetup Group. Our membership is growing and we are attracting activists to educate people on the benefits and practicality of a single payer health care system.
We invite others to join us at http://healthcare.meetup.com/26/.
