I am now retired from a career that included research in parasitology (the branch of biology concerned with animal parasites); service as an officer in the Medical Service Corps of the US Army, retiring as a colonel; and a professorship in biology. Since retirement, I have written a couple of novels (neither yet published) and several short stories. I have served as president of the Alabama Writers' Conclave and am presently serving my second year as Coordinator for the Chattahoochee Valley Writers' Conference-a conference several of us founded in 2007 and which will convene for the second time in September, 2008.
Born and raised in Utah, I received my education in Utah and California (Berkeley), receiving my doctorate in zoology at the University of Utah. I subsequently received postdoctoral training in cellular chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania and Auburn University.

Oh, the things I find I can do with pixels!
