Obama's War Rests on Dubious Assumptions
Obama's speech on what he is going to do in Afghanistan rests on a few dubious assumptions. He posits a central government that basically doesn't exist, local security forces associated with this non-existent government, attacking al-Qaida bases that are largely in Pakistan. This war may become a realization of the never-ending wars in frontier areas described in Orwell's 1984.
