Jim is a faith based progressive community activist and writer in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. He is a trustee on a multi-county Behavioral Health Board and a received the Governor's appointment for the Dept. of Human Services Board in Mackinac County. Jim is a trustee on the local church sponsored food pantry, getting food to Michigan's needy.
Jim is a graduate of the Michigan Progressive Leadership Fellowship . Jim formerly blogged on"Crossleft.org ", a progressive Christian website. Jim takes his spirituality seriously and is a Presbyterian Elder, a Lay Pastor Candidate, substitute minister,and is affiliated with the Progressive Christian Alliance. Jim's political ideas come from a deep rooted spirituality that emphasizes love of God and neighbor. Jim often writes on matters of a spiritual or religious nature.
Jim also writes on matters of concern to veterans and is a member of Veterans for Peace and a Vietnam veteran. He has helped many veterans access the V.A. health care system and has helped some disabled veterans get much deserved benefits from the V.A.
Jim recently started a non-profit "Up North Ministries" to try help fellow Michiganders during this horrible time of unemployment, hunger, and homelessness.
