Allowing my heart to progressively open up to and embrace all species on earth in recent years, I have learned to love the individuality of all creatures great and small. Well, almost all. Cockroaches and mosquitoes are cool, but I'm still working at loving (rendering harmless) those pesky fire ants.
Then there's that species called Homo sapiens! Each time I feel compassion instead of hatred for someone who persecutes a defenseless being (an animal, a child, a minority, a beggar, or anyone without power) I know for sure I'm making progress.
