Alan Herscovici was brought up in the fur trade and is the executive vice-president of the Fur Council of Canada, a national not-for-profit industry association. He is the author of "Second Nature: The Animal-Rights Controversy" (published by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) -- the first serious critique of the "animal-rights" philosophy from an ecological and social-justice perspective.
