Biography: Roger Simmermaker has an Associate's Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, has worked for one of America's largest defense contractors in Cape Canaveral, Florida for over 33 years, and is the past president of International Association of Machinists Union Local Lodge 610. Mr. Simmermaker has written four books on Buying American since 1996 (including three editions of "How Americans Can Buy American"), and has been a guest on the Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC. Roger has also been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, USA Today, and The New York Times, among many other publications. Roger writes 'Buy American Mention of the Week' articles for his website www.howtobuyamerican.com. His latest book (2013), "My Company 'Tis of Thee: 50 Patriotic American Companies American Consumers Should Know About", is endorsed by former President Bill Clinton. Trade: A uniting issue in a divided America. Americans are divided politically now more than ever. One are where they are mostly united is on trade policy. Free trade and globalization are increasingly unpopular. Members of both major parties realize China is a threat to the United States in one form or another and needs to change. The only debate between the political left and political right is what changes must be made.
