Canadian Will Budd is concerned by the already badly-diminished rights of consumer patients following medical malpractice liability reforms enacted through legislature globally.
Within this context of injured plaintiffs rights, he is alarmed by growing control and regulation of 'everything medical malpractice' by secretive medical indemnity insurance companies, including the duties that once good and fair government undertook in protecting the public via state medical boards and the justice system. He believes laws hatched by governments with insurance, medical and legal sectors to limit patients' rights - and the secretive agreements that accompany these broad-based 'no liability' and 'no compensation' approaches - will prove to be some of the most devious, deliberately labyrinthine and wholly predatory systems that financial corporations, medical associations and governments have ever assaulted civil society with.
Budd hopes he can write to expose some of that secrecy and injustice and in doing so, restore rights and decency against a current worsening system. The system is anti-patient and anti-human rights and it is filled with judicial bias, medical and insurance sector propaganda, profiteering and reprisals, and that essential ingredient -government collusion.
Budd knows he will need the assistance of whistleblowers everywhere, both ordinary folk like himself and intellectuals!
