Sharon Singer is a Toronto poet, writer, journalist and librettist. She has published articles in the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail, Canadian Materials, Reuters, and with King Features. With four books of published poetry to her credit, and inclusion in many anthologies, Sharon has contributed to three classical and jazz music CDs. For her jazz /spoken word CD "Global Warming," she collaborated with jazz great Bob Mover on saxophone. Her work has been set to music by a number of musicians and composers and she has performed her work extensively including at the Royal Ontario Museum, the Perimeter Institute, and Heliconian Hall. in her former life, she founded the film distribution company DABARA FILMS and, among many others, brought the Egyptian film "The Night of Counting the Years" to Canada. She is currently writing the libretto for the ancient Egyptian-inspired opera "Isis and Osiris," with composer Peter-Anthony Togni, which will have its world premiere in Toronto with VOICEBOX:Opera in Concert.
