I spent the 50s and 60s in an upwardly mobile household full of food and kids, but focused on success. From there I went to Drew University in Northern NJ, which was serious culture shock for a city girl from Upstate, but I received 2 gifts there that have stood by me for a lifetime, the Anti-War Movement and a history of religion from Seminary teachers who normally teach the teachers. Since then I have raised a son by myself and, after a harrowing recovery, plied a career in computers that brought us out of poverty and desperation.
I learned, and teach, Yoga and Mindfulness, a version of Iyengar style Yoga where form is everything, but connecting with yourself is more important than any athletic capability. And I have an abiding interest in religion. I have practiced and studied more than one, and have found myself a Buddhist.
With regard to the world at large, I missed a lot, but after the devastating and misplaced US revenge on Afghanistan in 2001, I found my way back to the anti-war movement and early aspirations as a writer. Since then, I have followed the international news closely, traveled to some of the hot spots, and read some critical writers with huge respect, verging on a crush in some cases. But I also think that what I have to say matters. And, I hope others will too.
