Dr. Ralph Ankenman, an MD since 1959 and psychiatrist since 1979, is the author of the book and website Hope For the Violently Aggressive Child, published 1 Feb 2012. In them, he presents new diagnoses and treatment options for children who have severe disruptive meltdowns at home or school.
Dr. Ankenman's new approach stops episodes of violence and aggression in most patients. Called Immature Adrenaline Systems Overreactivity (IASO) this approach recognizes the relationship between aggression and the body’s adrenaline systems.
IASO treatment has worked for patients with no mental health diagnosis, with autism, with bipolar disorder, and with developmental disabilities.
Violence, aggression and other meltdowns are frequently misdiagnosed or treated with psychotropic drugs that do not fully resolve the behaviors and lead to unnecessary side effects
Doctor Ankenman has Parkinsons Disease, and so his Facebook Twitter and website accounts are often updated and operated by his volunteer staff. Doctor Ankenman gives guidance and reviews their activity as well as sometimes directly makes posts himself.
Please help us grow his audience so that others needing his new medical help will learn about it.
