[[Rick]]
Rick Bartow, Wiyot Native American, Vietnam Veteran, and incredible artist and musician, has passed away in his home of Newport, Oregon. Bartow's monumental cedar sculptures "We Were Always Here" were commissioned by the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian, and sit on the Northwest corner of the museum overlooking the National Mall.
I knew Rick as a friend; in 1986, Bartow designed a sign for a Coffee House for me. In the developing website Rick Bartow you can see some of his early sketches.
