Trump 'couldn't care less' if his tariffs make cars cost too much

President Donald Trump told NBC News on Saturday in a phone interview that he 'couldn't care less' if automakers increase costs for consumers in response to his impending tariffs on auto sales. The dismissive attitude comes as there are new signs that the economy is weakening in response to Trump's actions. 'I couldn't care less if [Auto industry executives] raise prices, because people are going to start buying American-made cars,' Trump said. 'I couldn't care less. I hope they raise their prices, because if they do, people are gonna buy American-made cars. We have plenty.'
