concerned over the upcoming loss of records-- I wrote the President to urge a recommendation to "back up " the records before they are electronically lost.
Mr. President,
Much has been said of the stimulus plan; and before that "tarp". My question is one of policy regarding the "tarp" residue.
It evolves from a message which I received from Morgan Chase from the Washington Mutual account which I had--and still have.
The message conveyed essentially the I could make "back up" copies until the first of March , 2009. Frankly my spending accounts are maintained by that system-- and the spending needs be preserved for my federal taxes, so while inconvenient it will be done. But it bears a question which extends not only to my spending habits of 2006 through 2008, but upon the mchanism of whether or not the bank records are available to me in the case of an audit; or to the fellow citizens who may require similiar records searches; and even more extended as the character of assurances which I understood for Secretary Paulson to assure for the People of the United States as Wamu was taken over by Chase.
I am urging you to recommend to the Secretary of the Treasury to issue an order to preserve those records by means and mechanism that it could serve for auditable purposes to any taxpayer or the United States Government. But no matter your decison on this subject, I would like to express how happy my family and I are that you now President.
