March is the month designated as Women's History Month. In my own way, I honor those women from the past who have achieved great things in spite of the climate of male dominance in the sciences, government, political, medical, archaeological and other sectors. This year it came to me that there are many women who are the unsung golden threads who have left their footprints for others to follow.

Fortunately, for the human race, there have always been golden threads that throughout history have passed information to keep the human race in touch with the divine spark within each of us. This divine spark is not religion, but something that transcends and is carried forward. In the women's movement, there have been a number of notable women and this is true in the human rights movements. These women have been of great service to the human race and I have labeled them 'golden threads.'

There is another sector of these golden threads and these are women who carried the divine spark. As I reflect on them, today I see a great movement because of their teachings of ancient wisdom. The Secret is a name that ignites in people the desire to know what the secret is. From my perspective, this current movement is a culmination of what these female golden threads taught. The women I am writing about lived in the United States. There were others in Europe and elsewhere, however I am writing about a particular strand of golden threads.

The women in this strand of golden threads came to their truth of the secret because of severe illnesses for the most part. The beginning of this strand is Mary Baker Eddy 1821-1910. Because of her illnesses, she went to Phineas Quimby, a clockmaker by trade who realized the power of the mind and healed her. Eddy, the founder of Christian Science injured in 1866, went into seclusion for three years according to her biography. From this, she "became convinced that illness could be healed through an awakened thought brought about by a clearer perception of God. She eventually called this spiritual perception the operation of the Christ Truth on human consciousness."

Emma Curtis Hopkins has been called the "Teachers of Teachers." She became interested in Christian Science and Mary Baker Eddy. Hopkins became a student of Christian Science and studied under Eddy until she developed her own version of the mental practice. Hopkins returned to Chicago where she began teaching her own perspective of mental practice. I first heard of Hopkins when I was a student attending a Divine Science ministerial school in California. I learned that the founders of Unity traveled to Chicago and studied under Hopkins. Mildred Fillmore was quite ill and was healed. From this healing emerged Unity. One of the founders of Divine Science also learned under Hopkins and together with her sisters and a friend became known for their mental practice of healing and from this came Divine Science. Ernest Holmes, the founder of Religious Science is thought to have studied under Hopkins and perhaps this is why she is called the "Teacher of Teachers."

It did not take me too many years after being ordained to realize that religion and spirituality are not the same. Religion is based on fabricated rules, regulations and men's own perspective. Whereas, spirituality is the divine spark that is within every person female and male on this planet. Everyone born on this planet has a soul and the soul is connected directly to the Divine.

When I became program director of a holistic health center in southern California, I had the opportunity and pleasure to meet Olga Worrell. Olga was about 5'3" tall and wore her hair in a bun topped with a pillbox hat with a short veil when I first met her. During her lecture and healing sessions, Olga told us that she developed her psychic abilities at the age of eight. In 1928, she married Ambrose Worrell also a psychic and healer. Together the two did remarkable things. After Ambrose died, Olga continued with the New Life Clinic, Mount Washington Methodist Church in Baltimore, Maryland.

She shared that she was asked by scientists at Oxford University, England to come there and be tested by them. She accepted and when she arrived, the research team asked if she could move a force (energy) field with her mind. A force field is an energy barrier that stops other energies and this one was in placed inside a Faraday Cage. A Faraday Cage is a metallic box or cage that prevents the entry or escape of an electromagnetic field. The Faraday cage's purpose is to prevent the entry of electromagnetic waves and electric fields, by either containing them in or excluding them from its inner space. This was developed by Michael Faraday in the 19th century. Olga said she stood there and zapped it with her mind and it moved. The scientists were stunned that she could do this using her mind.
