The Ferrarri jacket of an armed rebel waving traffic through aptly symbolizes the reckless abandon with which the rebel army has been racing into battle, often ahead of any military sense of tactics. This is changing now.

Enthusiasm and bravery, even reckless abandon, are in abundance with the rebels in Libya. Training, equipment, weapons and discipline are not. But all that is slowly changing. Units that defected from Gaddafi's Libyan army are beginning to take a more commanding position; American and Egyptian Special Forces are reported to be conducting weapons training, which is no great surprise, especially since Egypt is in greater solidarity with the Libyan Resistance after throwing off its own dictator; radios and GPS units are popping up as more and better weapons arrive too, while real battlefield discipline and tactics are setting in.

There are still daily setbacks, such as a mistaken NATO jet bombing of a convoy, but eyewitness rebels are now saying that a fifth column of Gaddafi agents has been infiltrating the rebel ranks, and it was one of their trucks that started firing at the jet before racing off, while the rest of the convoy was left to bear the brunt of a counterattack. This has not been corroborated yet.

More discussion of all this follows in these videos.
