The ACLU concludes the following in its' 18 Month Review of National Security, Civil Liberties and Human Rights under the Obama Administration, "Establishing The New Normal":
"In the eighteen months since the issuance of those executive orders, the administration's record on issues related to civil liberties and national security has been, at best, mixed. Indeed, on a range of issues including accountability for torture, detention of terrorism suspects, and use of lethal force against civilians, there is a very real danger that the Obama administration will enshrine permanently within the law policies and practices that were widely considered extreme and unlawful during the Bush administration. There is a real danger, in other words, that the Obama administration will preside over the creation of a "new normal." "Which leads me to the obvious conclusion: The Democrat/Republican paradigm that occupies so much of our time is false.
The Liberal/Conservative paradigm that occupies so much of our time is false.
So, while we "take sides', are "liberal' or "conservative' or "progressive' and attack the "other side', we forget that All Citizens Love This Country. And all are suffering.
Until we come together and start to target real issues: How The Patriot Act has stripped us of our rights. How 835,000 spooks are now deployed in 10,000 cities (link). How the Federal Reserve creates deficits, recessions, and depressions (link). How our elected officials line their pockets giving away your money (link). How "Financial Reform" is a fraud and power grab by the Federal Reserve. How our politicians ignore their constituents (link). How the Military/Intelligence/Finance/Industrial complex has STOLEN OUR REPUBLIC, we will simply be the divided masses constantly blaming "the other guys' -- and never addressing the root of our problems.
These are not liberal or conservative issues. These are American issues.
Divide and conquer is an ancient strategy. The false liberal/conservative paradigm should not be bought. It is simply a false choice that has nothing to do with the reality of politics in America today.
We need to come together and vote this corruption out of office -- without regard to the false dichotomy of liberal/conservative that is simply an illusion.
