True to form, Nancy Pelosi wasted no time hopping a flight to India in time to be seen showing support for the Dalai Lama and the downtrodden people of Tibet. And that does make some sense because its a fact that Tibet is getting screwed by China’s policy of Sinification. So, jolly good, Nancy! You really showed moral fortitude and courage by donning an Indian costume and showing your support for Tibet and demanding a UN investigation of the recent atrocities.
What troubles me is this: over a million Iraqis are dead and millions more are refugees due to George Bush’s lawless invasion and occupation of Iraq, now moving into its 6th year. The war was sold to the American people by the Bush regime, which lied non-stop to make the public believe that Saddam Hussein posed an imminent threat to their physical safety. We were told endlessly by Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld and Cheney with a good deal of help from Fox and the other mainstream media moutpieces that Saddam had nuclear devices, a huge arsenal of WMD’s and that unless we acted right away, we might all get toasted by Iraqi terrorists.
And Nancy knows all this very well, knows that it was always about the oil and that the war is a moral, economic and political disaster and that it is fundamentally criminal in conception.
And now, long after it is clear to most 10-year olds that the Bush administration lied about the reasons for the war and that it was always simply about controlling Middle East oil fields to quench the thirst of a US military empire with over 700 bases on the planet---and when it is more than clear that Bush and Co have shredded our constitution, abused executive powers and used every dirty trick in the book to promote the interests of “the base”---Nancy Pelosi still maintains her position that “impeachment is off the table.”
So why haven’t we seen Nancy in Iraq photo-op-ing with the downtrodden of Iraq and calling for a UN investigation of the atrocities as she did for the recent incidents in Tibet? What’s up with that Nancy?
