URGENT: Tell the Michigan GOP chair NO to censoring Cong. Ron Paul

It has come to my attention that the chairman of the Michigan Republican Party will try and bar Congressman Ron Paul from any future debates.  The reason for this is “because of remarks the Texas congressman made that suggested the Sept. 11 attacks were the fault of U.S. foreign policy.”

As reported, “Michigan party chairman Saul Anuzis said he will circulate a petition among Republican National Committee members to ban Paul from other debates. At a GOP candidates’ debate Tuesday night, Paul drew attacks from all sides, most forcefully from former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, when he linked the terror attacks to U.S. bombings.”

To my readers it is not often that I ask all of you that read my pieces to take action, but in this case I am strongly urging all of you to do so.  No matter which party you belong to, America cannot tolerate censorship or disallowing for a difference of opinion.  We must be a country in which everyone is free to speak their mind.  We must not let any party leaders dictate who can and cannot take part in their debates.

What Saul Anuzis is doing is blatantly un-American.  It is akin to McCarthyism which was one of the darkest times in our shared history.  As we all remember shortly after 9/11 happened, President Bush’s former Press Secretary, Ari Fleisher stated, “Watch what you say” and this is exactly the same sentiment being expressed by Anuzis.

We must remind Anuzis and the Michigan Republican Party that Rudy Giuliani does not own that day and it is a shared tragedy to us all.  It is on par as December 7th, 1941 when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and no one owned that day.  It is also on par with the Oklahoma City bombing and no one owned that day either.

In closing, here is the phone number for the Michigan Republican Committee, 517-487-5413.  The office hours are 8:30 to 5:30 and I want all of you to call this number demanding that he cease and desist.  Tell him what he is doing is unpatriotic and we shall not stand for an assault on free speech.  We must remind Anuzis exactly what the United States Constitution means.

I want you also to remind him how patriot blood namely our soldiers has been and continues to be spilled in protection of our right to speak out freely.  Tell him he is not supporting the troops by abridging free speech.

Also, I am asking all to write a letter to the newspaper this appeared in condemning his actions using this email address, stateeditor@thestate.com
