a lyrical poem:

Here We Go Again!

by Mac McKinney

(with acknowledgment to Country Joe McDonald for the inspiration)

One, two, three, four,
let's create another black hole.
Let's duplicate Vietnam,
this time in Afghanistan!

It's five, six, seven, eight,
reopen the pearly gates,
for all the dead hero-bait,
sacrificed for paranoid hate.

Nine, ten, eleven, twelve,
we're headed right back to Hell,
gonna relive Vietnam,
this time in Afghanistan!
Obama, he is the man,
gonna save America again
from the new Viet Cong,
the ones with the bathrobes on.
They're gonna kill us all dead,
if we don't get them instead.

Let's listen to McChrystal my friends!
He says he can win this thing!
So just what are we waitin' for?
Reopen the draft boards now!

***************

This is the potential scenario yawning before us as the cogs and wheels of the Pentagon war machine groan on laboriously, mindlessly trying to replicate the past horror of not only Iraq, but of Vietnam. Who will stop the Black Hole this time from devouring everyone and everything in sight?

Read this article from Tom Andrews of the Huffington Post, and read between the lines too:

We are in the eleventh hour regarding Afghanistan before a major new escalation is decided upon, one that will develop its own deadly momentum that will take years to stop.
