The Gaza war and its human toll is now an afterthought as the international community and media have now disengaged and moved on from the unfolding genocide in the strip. Yes, I know many are going to do the feigned outrage and anger thing because of the fact that I believe that Israel continues to get a free pass to continue its ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. There is now a kind of global apathy towards Israel's atrocity and crimes against humanity. It's like people have become numb to the violence and brutality.
Israel, true to form broke the Trump-brokered ceasefire and recommenced it full scale assault and horrendous bombing campaign of a defenseless people. Really, it's like shooting fish in a barrel. Since March 18 over 1,000 Palestinians have been mercilessly slaughtered even as Israel has blocked food, medicines, and water from entering the Gaza Strip in what amounts to a crime against humanity. And yes, Israel is not fighting a war - its exterminating "human animals" that have no right to live or any that western nations are bound to respect, least of all the Trump Administration.
This horror and humanitarian catastrophe are unfolding as U.S. mainstream and western media have all but moved on to other news stories. Gaza is now not a major story. Hey, dropping 1200 lb. bombs "made in the USA" and indiscriminately murdering over 110 people a day is, well, just business as usual. There is nothing to see here. After all, no innocent Jewish children are being murdered. And just to drive home the point that underscores the times that we're living in, the New York Times found room at the end of March to report on manufactured anti-Hamas protests in Gaza, and how the militant group used innocent Palestinians as human shields.
Somehow this justifies Israel's butchering of hundreds of children to "take out a Hamas terrorist." These are the favorite pro-genocide U.S. and western media talking points as they see it as evidence their "war on Hamas" is both morally justified and, somehow, endorsed by Palestinians themselves. Obscenely, just as the New York Times, the nightly news shows-CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News, and ABC World News Tonight- all followed suit and covered the initial bombing and breaking of the ceasefire the day after Israel killed 400+ in under 24 hours.
They all speculated about the fate of the remaining hostages but ignored the carnage cause by Israel. They even repeated literally verbatim the IDF's talking points about Hamas using children as human shields without providing one shred of evidence. The U.S. media was and is complicit in its conscious or unconscious regurgitation of the Trump administrations disruptive and quixotic behavior giving it non-stop coverage while ignoring the Gaza War.
They all bought into the "flood the zone" strategy of the Trump White House as it attacked dozens of perceived and "created" enemies. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said that at least 322 children had been killed and 609 injured since Israel broke the ceasefire on March 18. But mum's the word from the U.S. mainstream and western media. And now that Trump's Mad Hatter tariff war on friend and foe alike is raging there is no reason to cover a little thing like genocide especially since it's not good, pure, white, Christian people being slaughtered.
The mainstream U.S. and western media also helped former President Joe Biden to sustain the Gaza War, and fanatically support Israel at every turn parroting his not thoroughly discredited "Israel has a right to defend itself" mantra. So, tell me this: Is Israel defending itself today? From whom? Hungry, starving, homeless innocent women and children? Is preventing water, medicines and food from entering a strip of land that you control and are bombing non-stop, constitute self-defense? Is deliberately internally displacing one million people countless times a self-defense method?
To help Biden cover up the carnage he egged on and gave the green light to the media used spin, deception, blamed Hamas, and behaved as though the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 was the very first time in 75 years that Israel was attacked, and that NOTHING preceded this act of violent desperation. They were complicit in the covering up and papering over of Genocide Joe's greenlighting of the Gaza massacres. And now Donald Trump? They are ignoring the carnage and pointing Americans to look the other way. That is because Israel and its enablers can bank on the US and western media to normalize their genocide since this sustained violence against a defenseless people will become normal. Adolf Hitler's World War II Nazi Germany did the very same thing. Gee, I wonder where they got this propaganda playbook?
Finally, few media outlets have criticized or pushed back against Donald Trump's open call to ethnically cleanse the Gaza Strip. Rather, the conversation is all about how to facilitate it so that it looks legitimate and a reasoned practical solution to a long-standing problem. The media is now spinning this as a debate over Trump's belligerent and bullying foreign policy, and a "take it or leave it" no-option for Gazans. They are asked to give up their homes for "a better life "elsewhere" something that no western nation would stomach for its own people.
