In all likelihood the Bailout package will be approved after Democrats and Republicans agree on how to add oversight, additional foreclosure protections to average Americans, and a few other provisions being bounced around. One additional condition needs to be added to this bailout package. The President needs to go on the record and be straight with the American people for once.
The final condition that the Democrats should demand, before this Bailout package is approved, is that the President of the United States, George W. Bush, arrange a nationally televised press conference and go on the record and tell the American people that to fund this Bailout everyone is going to have to tighten up their belts and their taxes will HAVE to go up to pay for this Bailout.
Bush has to publicly state this out of his own lips. Plain and simple. He got us into this mess and now he has to show some leadership and be totally straight and honest with the American people and say this money will have to be funded by increasing in our taxes. We are being asked to give him $700 billion with hardly any conditions, so the lest we can do is ask for this condition. Letting Bush off the hook on this like he was for the Iraq war will come back to haunt all Democrats. The Republicans are already trying to pin the economic mess on the Democrats using ridiculous talking points. We were never asked at all to sacrifice for a now 6 year war in Iraq and thus the American people seem to believe that the money for the Iraq war is growing on some type of money tree. The same can not be allowed to happen for this bailout.
We all know that taxes are going to have to go UP to pay for this and for the Democrats to let Bush and the Republicans off the hook on this is just plain stupid. If this doesn’t happen you can guarantee that the Republicans will turn the tables next year when the Democrats have control and we will be unmercifully attacked for having to raise taxes to cover the largest bailout in U.S, history that was pushed through by Bush.
Please pass this to everyone you can and get it into the hands of your Congressmen and Congresswomen. This needs to be a final condition to the bailout.
