Feeding the Soldiers

Raechel Gwyn
At the post office
I found the mother
of a soldier

she sends cans to
the troops in Iraq
her son's friends

they're fighting together,
going hungry together
in Iraq

her son said to send
food, he and his comrades
are hungry

they can't eat, it's difficult
to defend anybody if you can't
eat

the food is there it's just no
good the food is awful, no
the cook is okay

it's, well, it's whoever is
responsible for letting the
food sit...sit....sit....sit......sit

before it becomes a toilet

and this is why the soldiers can't
eat
