Medical Device Safety Act of 2009 (H.R. 1346/S. 540)

Jim McGookin
In 2008 the Supreme Court made a decision in the case of
Riegel v. Medtronic that overturned the Medical Devices Amendments of 1976 passed by congress. In the Supreme Court decision, it took away the right for patients and/or their families to file a civil lawsuit against injuries, damages or deathcaused by amedical device that was approved by the FDA. That court decision gave manufacturers of medical devices a "get out of jail freecard".Medical device manufacturershave no reason to be truthful to the FDA when applying for approval. The Medical Device Safety Act of 2009 will help to stop unscrupulous companies or atleastgive patients and/or their families the right toreceivecompensation for their injuries, damages or loss of a love one. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT "THE MEDICAL DEVICE SAFETY ACT OF 2009" IS PASSED INTO LAW. Write to your senators and congressmen and tell them that you want them to support the Medical Device Safety Act of 2009.
