Most of the MP3 downloads I listen to are produced weekly, but Flashpoints is an exception. It is produced by the Pacifica station KPFA in Berkley each weekday so there is a lot of material for listening. I usually skip the Friday show because much of that show is done in Spanish and my command of that language is not so good. Even so, that leaves four hours each week to listen to. The Tuesday and Thursday shows I put on an old MP3 player that I keep next to my bed to listen to when I can't seem to sleep and this morning I woke to a real gem that I had to play a second time to hear the whole program.

The program was broadcast on October 14 and it consisted of a panel discussion of torture during the Bush administration. Included in the panel were Ray McGovern, Andy Worthington and Marjorie Cohen.

Flashpoints often has good programs, though it ranges far and wide in its topics and I've often skipped over one after a few minutes to realize the topic of the day did not interest me. Their coverage of Haiti has been truly exceptional, however, and I would recommend a tour through their archives to anyone seriously interested in this topic. For example, they were reporting daily on peculiar events there in the weeks leading up to Aristide's abduction to the Central African Republic.
