At work with no time to write, so I wanted to throw this out there quickly.
Many have tried to compare this presidential election with other major elections in our past. But McCain just made it that decidedly mundane 1984 Reagan landslide. I love and respect both Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro (really, I do), but for those of us old enough to remember, it was painfully obvious Mondale picked her as his Vice Presidential nominee mainly as a gimmick in hopes of pulling off a prohibitive upset over the popular and politically talented Reagan.
This is what McCain has done. Sarah Palin is nothing more than a gimmick, and one who stands for all of the same things the Bush Administration has pushed disastrously for these long eight years.
I have four daughters and two granddaughters and I want them to believe they can do anything and want the world to show them that. But picking a ridiculously inexperienced person as a VP because she is a woman teaches them only that they can be used for the personal advantage of ambitious men.
