In 1995, President Jean-Bertrand Aristide disbanded the Haitian army (FAd'H) after years of killings and coups by this army. Currently Martelly is trying to raise money for a "new' army. Some of the funds are meant to cover backpay for the old army of bandits. For those who never knew or forgot the crimes of the FAd'H, this masterful video by Kevin Pina should serve as an excellent introduction or reminder.
