Is it just me, Truthseekers, or does it seem like the corporate media are dumbing down the news more than ever these days?

Case in point -- the reporting on the 777 aircraft wing found on the French island of Reunion. Today experts confirmed that the wing came from the mysterious, missing Malaysian flight MH370.

When the wing was discovered last week, I flipped from "news" channel to channel and without variance, all the talking heads were excitedly discussing the possibility that this wing was part of the wreckage from the missing aircraft. Cable and alphabet networks alike, the coverage was nearly identical:

... could this possibly, perhaps, just maybe ... be the part of the missing aircraft?

Experts were called in to give their opinion. Wolf Blitzer was near-orgasmic. Hours and hours were spent on the speculation, was the mystery solved?

During the days of constant coverage, one thought kept running through my mind ... DUH ...

Unless there's some part of this story beyond my ability to understand, where else could this 777 wing have come from?

Are there several missing Boeing 777 aircraft we don't know about? Are there several 777's hobbling around with a missing wing? How could there have been any doubt that this barnacle-studded 777 wing belonged to flight MH370?

I dunno, maybe there was serious conjecture that the flight dissolved into the mist of a misdirected Bermuda Triangle (did anybody hear Art Bell last week)? Or that Hillary personally shot down the plane. I didn't check Fox "News."

Are the news producers that stupid, or do they just think we are? I fear the latter, because this assumption that the news consumers are drooling idiots has become a disturbing trend. The most obvious details are reported -- and repeated -- as if they are rare, discovered secret truths. As in headlines that read...

"Majority of Registered Republican Voters Likely to Vote for One of the Current GOP Candidates, or Some Scientists Claim Global Climate Change Might Be Responsible for Increased Temperatures, or maybe Studies Show Frequent Sex Increases Likelihood of Pregnancy. Now we will be treated to "Experts Confirm 777 Wing is from Missing 777 ..."

Speaking of pregnancy and dunces, Senator Elizabeth Warren issued a blistering red-ass to a group of her knuckle-dragging colleagues who tried (and failed) again to defund Planned Parenthood.

Salon has this:

"'I come to the Senate floor today to ask my Republican colleagues a question,' she began. 'Do you have any idea what year it is? Did you fall down, hit your head, and think you woke up in the 1950s? Or the 1890s? Should we call for a doctor?'

"'Because I simply cannot believe that in the year 2015, the United States Senate would be spending its time trying to defund women's healthcare centers. On second thought, maybe I shouldn't be surprised. The Republicans have had a plan for years to strip away women's rights to make choices over our own bodies.'"

Yup, that's about right. These luddites won't be satisfied until the 22nd amendment is repealed, along with Roe v Wade.

Kathy never expected a career in radio as a talk show producer. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Kathy was completing her nursing degree when in 2001 - in an emergency - she was asked to fill in as the producer of Mike's program. Within a few (more...)
