I offer again the simile of love in erotic terms.
If a person is attracted to another, it is a physical invitation to learn the content of the other's soul.
So also in this world of politics and economics, we need to consider other's needs as if they were our own.
If you, my friend, could "walk a mile" in my shoes, might you not feel differently than before this trip was undertaken?
So I retract nothing.
I correct.
If I missed an abuse, it was out of lack of comprehensive reporting, and no moral turpitude.
Nothing could be further from my personal truths.
I live each day as one who adds, not subtracts, as one who seeks increase of knowledge and insight, not a stupored justification of some prejudice taught to me.
We form these ideas in our yuth, our upbringing, and by our experiences in the world.
I might have been sent to war. I wanted to learn to fly.
But in the Viet Nam era that would have meant dropping bombs on children.
No such attraction to airplanes could overcome my compunction to taking life so ruthlessly.
I may yet learn to fly.
But first I seek to take my firt steps as a human being, walking erect, and thinking, thus knowing I am!
And I posit here that we should all question whether we are flying or merely crawling mentally and emotionally in this complicated state of a beleaguered planet!
