At a workshop we attended hosted by Sandra Klaft (Peace4Future), the five archetypes of nonviolent communication were discussed. The lion represents the competitive zero-sum approach, in which one side wins all, and the other side loses all. This is the approach of both Netanyahu's hardliners as well as groups such as Hamas. The fox, representing a win-win approach, represents compromise. Only this approach will ensure a future for both Israelis and Palestinians.
So what can we, as ordinary citizens, do? Firstly, we need to demand end to the capitalist military-industrial complex which profits from human suffering. We must also resist the demonization and dehumanization of both Israelis and Palestinians, recognizing our common humanity. We must demand democratic self-determination in the place of nationalism and fascism. Boycotting all products and investment funds that profit from war, including related industries, is a necessity. Lastly, working people of all nations and religions need to come together for an international general strike, beginning on May 1, and ending whenever necessary.
