FDA's Dr. Adrian Gross, who headed the investigation into aspartame's multiple harming effects, told the Senate on 8/1/85 that aspartame violated the Delaney Amendment because it caused cancer, and asked: "If the FDA violates its own laws who is left to protect the public?"
Dr.
Morando Soffritti did three studies on aspartame showing it to be a
multipotential carcinogen. He said there was so much formaldehyde that it
turned the rats' hair yellow. The FDA rejected the study, while Dr.
Soffritti received a prestigious award for his studies only given twice in
history.
So when the FDA tells the public aspartame is safe, do, please, remind them
that they spent about fifteen years trying to keep it off the market! One
member of the Illinois legislature from Chicago told a colleague of mine that
if a copy of the Board of Inquiry Report revoking the petition for approval
were sent to every governor in the US, something would definitely get
done. Please do your part by sending a copy to your state governor.
The next time you see someone crack open a diet pop, give them this report on

think it is really worth it to risk their health so haphazardly!
