The KKK controlled Southern legislatures and the governments of Tennessee, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Oregon. In Indiana, Republican Klansman Edward Jackson was elected governor in 1924."

Many of the discriminatory practices described above still occur. These are not long ago practices that are now a part of American History. Generations of blacks still suffer from what one psychologist calls, "post-traumatic slave syndrome." Dr. Joy Degruy Leary calls her book "Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome: America's Legacy of Enduring Injury and Healing."

The unbridled attack on ACORN by the right-wing has many racist elements. Why has this organization been targeted? Many have pointed out that the organization has fired the employees responsible for doling out illegal advice to the "pimp" and "prostitute" poseurs who videotaped an expose. Why aren't government contractors like Blackwater (Xe) or ArmourGroup held to the same standards? Why hasn't Congress moved to defund or fire these contractors who are guilty of significant criminal misdeeds? They are still employed by the government, yet Congress has opted to defund ACORN. The truth is, ACORN's real sin is that the organization has been solely responsible for registering a record number of minority and low income voters. ACORN is under attack not because of corruption, but because of its successful voter registration efforts.

Do African-Americans Deserve Reparations for Slavery? Yes! They also deserve reparations for the hell they've been catching since "legal" slavery ended.
