In a state where stealing watermelonsis a felony, and people taking their own children over state lines is considered "kidnapping", the only semblance of reality is the homicide rate.
Even then not every police agency reports their crimes. There are many, many variables, but the red line for homicide and the blue line for rape remained stable through 2008.
Here are some articles about the variables in our statistics so arguments cannot be made except in cases where there is a dead body to prove it. They have also changed the dollar amounts of what constitutes varying levels of burglary. Nothing except homicides are even
close to apples to apples comparison.
