As we wade deeper into the Obama presidency, let us consider the weakness of violence as we move forward---a weakness which Dr. King spoke of.
“The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy…Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Hope will be just another American folly if it does not breed a sense of love for another that this world desperately needs. And so, with generosity and care, let us take the steps necessary to alter prevailing wisdom in America and create a movement which asserts that America’s well-being depends on the well-being of all others on the planet and also the well-being of the planet itself.
