As soon as the parade was over, more American-as-apple-pie free speech blossoms, as administration bobble heads march down the parade route to Pasadena’s City Hall.
Twenty-six people carried a half-block long, hand-painted Preamble to the Constitution in the two-mile “We the People” citizens’ march to Pasadena City Hall. Marchers included Camp Casey Peace Institute founder and San Francisco Congressional Candidate, Cindy Sheehan, CODEPINK Co-founder, Jodie Evans, and Marcy Winograd, President of Progressive Democrats of Los Angeles and 2006 Congressional candidate for California's 36th District.
The bobble heads at City Hall, during the White Rose Coalition press conference on impeachment and ending the Iraq war. One blogger wrote, “Cindy Sheehan (making) her speech in front of the Pasadena City Hall (and the) Marines marching in the parade (both) got strong applause from the crowd … Thanks to these fine men and women who are protecting our freedoms.”
The festive colors and textures, the celebration of a variety of cultures, and the beauty that emerges when nature is blended with the creativity of humankind, all provided food for the soul, while the passionate expressions of American liberties fed the spirit of “we, the people” in a magnificent, 2008 Tournament of Roses Parade.
