The new Caligula hasn't bothered to make his horse a Senator because most of the Senate acts like at least one end of a horse already. The House postures and offers "non-binding" legislation which Caligula either ignores or vetoes. New repressive legislation is approved with little discussion and despite massive outcries from the people the Congress is supposed to be representing.

The President takes an oath; "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

All members of the Congress take a similar oath; "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

Most government employees, including the military, take a similar oath.. Remember that part of the oath, "All enemies, foreign and domestic?"

Can anybody (except perhaps Rush Limbaugh) explain to me how shredding the Constitution and Bill of Rights, curtailing the freedoms of We the People, and robbing the treasury of the United States to give to the wealthy and powerful, and incidentally, to form a mercenary army better equipped than our own military, is protecting and defending the Constitution? James Thurber wrote a fable about how the Wolves worked hard to civilize the sheep until there was nothing left to eat, then they started civilizing the geese.

Somewhere along the line, We the People of the United States are going to have to decide we are neither sheep nor geese. Otherwise, we might as well consider ourselves dinner and wait for the end.

Read that Declaration of Human Rights again. It fits right in with our Constitution and Bill of Rights. I hope these are not all just dead letters, amongst millions of dead or enslaved humans, and a handful of wealthy power brokers.
