Finding the Real Self

There has never been a civilization that was strong enough that it maintained a continuous life through a yuga ( a 25,000 year period ) in order to inform the inhabitants of the next yuga what happened in the last one that is just over. We can see evidence of lost civilizations. On many continents we see massive things like pyramids that we can not duplicate today. We think of ourselves as being very technically evolved but the truth is that if we were we would know what these relics of the past were all about.

The Kali Yuga is a time when the celestial energies are very low and the intellect of the human is very low. We exited a Kali Yuga a few centuries back according to Yogananda. We are now, according to him, in what he calls the electric age and are due to go through a few high and higher energy ages until the whole thing starts to go downhill again.

Yogananda says that at the highest point of these 25,000 year periods the celestial energy is so great that one can literally walk between here ( in 3D ) to the other side ( where you go when you die and when you sleep ) and then walk back.

That presents another problem to evolving humanity. Those who walked between dimensional realities and stayed on the other side when the energies of the yugas started to go downhill again, would be unavailable to us and can not tell us where they went and how nice things are over there. And they can not tell us how they built the great wonders like the pyramids.

We in this civilization are at a turning point where we must make up our minds if we are going to ascend or flop. The celestial energies are climbing again and when you do not know how to make the most of them you consequently make the worst of them. The collapse of environments and nations and economies you see now in the world is a result of the misapplication of the greater incoming energies.

As the energies continue to rise we will continue to misapply them and to kill ourselves and our planet. Or we will change direction and do something fine with this opportunity. The energy is still very tame.

In the past we have faced these challenges and flopped before and we are doing it again. According to Yogananda Earth will die but she will also reincarnate. And according to Yogananda she has done this before. I think she had done it for the salvation of human souls in the past and is doing a partial death for love of her naughty human children again. When people see the results of their foolishness they will either go forward in their evolution or go backward. It is for the souls who choose to go forward that our blessed mother continues to put up with the assault on her aliveness. And those who fall behind will one day turn it all around as well.

The wise say that we are the answer we have been looking for. But the problem is that we are also the problem making it near-impossible to see the answer. We are supposed to kill the false little self called an ego and discover a divine Self within. But the ego is so full of false self-love/self-loathing that we can not get past it.

The amusing thing is that it is the most horrendous job to discover who we already are.

Yogananda says that the soul does not sin. Only the false self makes errors. If you can love your Real Self enough to accuse and then forgive the false self then you get to take a peak at your own unspoiled divinity.

I am a hippy that never dropped out. I have held on to impossible idealism and will not give up. I think the human race is a ticking time bomb and we are at the last tick. So what is the good of slow careful pragmatism that allows time for it all to (more...)
