On this Veteran's Day, I am writing to again encourage your action to direct immediate release by all government agencies, most notably the CIA, of voluminous and still-withheld records pertaining to the 1963 assassination of President Kennedy. Evidence readily demonstrates Lee Harvey Oswald - as described in his own words - was indeed merely the designated "patsy" in a choreographed sequence of events involving cooperation (a conspiracy) among highly placed personnel in military/intelligence and other governmental positions. In retrospect, it is clear that President Kennedy had begun to pursue a strategy of peaceful engagement with the Soviet Union, likely viewed by some as a threat to U.S. "National Security" interests (as if the coup that occurred on November 22, 1963 - and the subsequent coverup - haven't been equally or more destructive). As some now asserting political leadership seem intent on renewing tensions and even open conflict with Russia, honoring veterans and seeking to avoid unnecessary, avoidable future wars requires transparency on the historical record of JFK's assassination.
Please ask your staff for a briefing regarding on the record statements made by former CIA/National Photographic Interpretation Center (NPIC) Chief Information Officer Dino Brugioni (considered even in retirement the world's foremost imagery intelligence analyst) to Douglas P. Horne, Chief Analyst for Military Records of the Assassination Records Review Board (the "ARRB" - dissolved after 4 years in 1998). Interviews of Mr. Brugioni and related evidence demonstrate that within barely 24 hours after JFK's murder, skilled personnel employing CIA's state-of-the-art, Rocheseter, New York "Hawkeyeworks" lab created an altered version of "The Zapruder Film," minimizing the visual evidence that one or more shots struck President Kennedy from the front, causing wounds that included a "baseball-sized exit hole" in the back of President Kennedy's head, as is the testimony of literally every attending physician from Dallas' Parkland Hospital - and others. To this day, Americans thinking they've pondered "the truth" by viewing excerpts of the publicly available, altered version of "The Zapruder Film" have only seen, at best, a "limited hangout" of events, partially but not fully revealing how contrived is the "lone gunman" lie-theory quickly imposed on a distraught America and world via The Warren Report.
Testimony in a 1985 Miami federal trial - never publicized by mainstream media - implicated E. Howard Hunt, Frank Sturgis, and other CIA personnel in the assassination (see Plausible Denial and Last Word by Mark Lane). Before dying in 2007, Hunt taped his own confession - thin on details of self-described 'benchwarmer' status in the plot - yet implicating the involvement of not only Sturgis, but other CIA figures, including William King Harvey, David Sanchez Morales, and David Atlee Phillips. How can the CIA be permitted to further delay releasing operational or other records of those who have confessed or been so implicated in President Kennedy's murder? "'National Security?' No - "National Security" requires genuine unraveling of lies that have been perpetuated for more than 50 years via The Warren Report; even reining in CIA to its original, intelligence-only mandate - terminating its operational duties - as recommended a month after JFK's murder by the man who signed into law establishment of the CIA, President Harry Truman. Trying to make the world a better place by just killing all the right people, as seems the objective of CIA "operational" functions, obviously hasn't worked so well. The founders were wise to agree, as reflected in the U.S. Constitution, that Congress, the peoples' collective representation - not just a president, or CIA - must declare war prior to unleashing acts of war, like assassinations and destructive interference in the internal affairs of other countries. We have traveled far in the wrong direction since JFK's assassination; it's time to correct our direction.
Every November 22nd for over 50 years, Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas has been the primary, almost exclusive focal point for gatherings in remembrance of JFK's assassination. As a touchstone, a place for reflecting on the nature and conduct of evil - the violence and lies which constitute, surround and protect it - nothing can substitute for standing once, twice, even a dozen or more times in that place. Yet among important truths that have emerged from the intense, prolonged focus of activists and researchers upon what happened both to President Kennedy and the subsequent political direction of our country, is that all roads indeed lead back to Rome - or at least the New Rome, Washington, D.C. It is here that the Central Intelligence Agency and other entities continue withholding from public scrutiny records that, especially if one believes the Warren Commission's official theories of non-conspiracy ("Oswald acted alone; Ruby acted alone"); it defies explanation either that such voluminous records exist, or that fifty years later any of their content must remain hidden in darkness. Our nation's capitol is the single place where political pressure can and must be brought to bear for real transparency to ever be achieved regarding not only JFK's murder, but to inform and guide the future of our country.
Formally named "The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts" and located at 2700 F Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20566, "The Kennedy Center" is self-described on its own website as "America's living memorial to President Kennedy." The Kennedy Center thus exists to be more than just a place for experiencing and celebrating among the finest artists and productions of entertainment mankind has ever known.
Since November 22, 2013, a precedent has been established - and even well received by The Kennedy Center's staff and local media - that the public terraces of this building are a most appropriate place for gathering in memory of John F. Kennedy every November 22nd (and May 29th, JFK's birthday), peaceably assembling and petitioning merely by one's presence for: 1) Immediate, un-redacted release of all still withheld assassination-related records; 2) Reining in the CIA to its original, intelligence-only mandate; 3) Ending the intimidation of official secrecy and the violence it perpetuates, necessary to achieve real transparency in governments worldwide.
This November 22nd at 12 noon, whether a few or many assemble, John F. Kennedy will be remembered on public terraces of The Kennedy Center. It is expected that a simple, wooden "soapbox" will be available upon which any in attendance may stand and briefly speak, honoring JFK's legacy in thoughtful reflection and with hope for the future. And whether on this or some November 22nd (or May 29th) yet to come, those gathered may then elect to disperse and elsewhere reassemble, in the most Constitutional of manners, furthering their petition for redress of cited grievances - perhaps at the White House, the Capitol, or even just off the George Washington Memorial Parkway, at CIA Headquarters. "Civil Obedience," peaceably assembling in petition for redress of grievances, as provided by the U.S. Constitution, may thus prove America's best hope for revealing the entire truth, as has not yet - but must be - achieved regarding JFK's murder. Your commitment to transparency of government would be well-served by your publicly acknowledging - or even joining in - this assembly.
JFK said, "A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on." And yet, "One person can make a difference, and everyone should try." Honoring JFK by assembling, in increasing numbers on this and subsequent anniversaries, upon public terraces of The Kennedy Center, will positively, even overwhelmingly influence timely and real transparency concerning not only records of JFK's assassination, but the overall conduct of governmental affairs in our nation's capitol - and beyond.
I am sending copies of this correspondence to: Ms. Deborah F. Rutter, President of The Kennedy Center; Washington, D.C.'s Mayor Vincent Gray (and Mayor-elect Muriel Bowser); Chief Cathy L. Lanier, Metropolitan Police Department; Robert MacLean, Acting Chief, United States Park Police. This will ensure all are fully aware of the "JFK Vigil" occurring this November 22nd on public terraces of The Kennedy Center, that the Constitutional rights of assembly and petition may be well respected and exercised that day, indeed providing you with encouragement and visible support to accomplish prompt and full transparency of records associated with President Kennedy's assassination, yet still withheld from public scrutiny.
Regards,
