I recently found Mr. Dowling's report from which revealed his discovery of how to do just that: John Ware Dowling created the following common sense organic technology at his farm, Sequoia Pastoral. Based on the premise that roots of monocot plants require carbon dioxide, one can sequester 1,000 tons of CO2 per/hectare* per/year by building soil to a depth of 7ft., which greatly increases the soil carbon bank. A continuous gaseous exchange from the soil to the air above is exchanged naturally through photosynthesis, which allows Nature to put down large amounts of soil carbon very rapidly. One then plants, and nature grows grasses and monocots such as cereals: wheat, barley, sorghum, and the like (personal note here: I like rice - organic rice.) In certain locations, one can grow 2 crops per year. With organic grain growing on 1,000,000 hectares one could sequester 1 billion tons of CO2 per year - forever!
Not only that, one could sell carbon credits. According to Carbon Emissions Offset Directory one can receive anywhere from $1 to $99 per ton of carbon for having an invention that could sequester carbon dioxide from the air. In dollars, this could translate to $440 billion per year when just under 30,000,000 acres are planted!**
