An excellent thorough video on some key history of artificial sweeteners.
The FDA Bressler Report has been famous for years because it exposed the phony original safety studies by G. D. Searle on their newly patented but not yet FDA approved neurotoxic sweetener called aspartame. However, the Bressler report is not well known among many 2018 consumer protectionists, physicians, and consumer oriented lawyers.

Bressler was the last of the heroes from the old FDA who fought to keep aspartame from being approved. He literally pleaded with me to find the 20% of his report the FDA had sealed in order that the public would never see the teratology studies or know that aspartame causes birth defects.
Bressler spoke at length with Internist Dr. H. J. Roberts and Neurosurgeon Dr. Russell Blaylock, both of whom went on to be two of the top physician critics of aspartame and its effects. The forward to the Bressler Report gives the information in full. We were able to find the studies after 8 years, which we reinstated, but never the cover letter which he emphasized as being so important.
It was
Dr. Jerome Bressler's request that the Chicago Tribune should go back to the
beginning and tell the aspartame story in full, the real facts. Monica Eng from the Tribune said they would
do the story if they could have an interview with Bressler. He had not given an interview in years. He
wanted the Tribune to do the story but didn't particularly want to do the
interview. In the end he did a two hour
interview with
Lane Shore, Mission Possible Chicago, and Diane Murphy, Mission Possible Illinois, as well as myself attended the interview with the Tribune's Monica Eng, but regrettably, the story was never written.
Then the Tribune said that if we found the studies, they would do the story, but after they were obtained showing terrible birth defects again they refused.
Perhaps it was because of the looming shadowy presence of Donald Rumsfeld (former Congressman from the Chicago area, we remind you) and some sense of fear of the journalistic consequences of rocking this big a boat on the pages of the venerable ChicagoTribune?
In any event, it was obvious that they never thought we would get Jerome to do the interview or find the studies the FDA sealed.

The FDA didn't even have the decency to add a pregnancy warning knowing babies would be born with horrible birth defects.
