Most American media outlets have an unspoken ban on showing images from the recently-released footage of ISIS forces burning alive ...

Tokyo Rose was a propaganda tool the Japanese used to demoralize the American armed forces during World War II.
If Fox News had existed then, would they have broadcast the worst, most effective messaging of Tokyo Rose, using the excuse that it was news? Seventy years ago, it would have been called treason.
Today, Fox News has broadcast the Isil video of the burning of a Jordanian prisoner alive. They justify this treason by saying it is news.
Just because an enemy-- and ISIL is an enemy of humanity, not just the USA-- does something heinous, that does not justify calling it news and re-publishing the propaganda video they create. Broadcasting such videos is a clear case of helping the enemy.
I use the term enemy because this is the language that the people who view Fox News use. I use the word treason because that is the level of inappropriateness that this reaches. And we're not just talking about Fox News. Once Fox News broke the ice, many other right wing media outlets followed Fox News' example and also re-broadcast the ISIL propaganda video.
After World War II, a woman accused of being Tokyo Rose was run up by corrupt prosecutors and jailed for decades-- for helping the enemy. The case for Fox news should be an open and shut case.
The rest of the American media have taken a responsible position, refusing to show the horrific ISIL videos. This is the way journalists are supposed to function. Fox News should apologize to the families of the victims of ISIL, apologize to the members of the US military who are in harms way because of ISIL, and state a policy that they will no longer aid the enemy broadcast ISIL propaganda videos.
The act of burning the prisoner alive has been described as barbaric. It is just as barbaric to broadcast at the service of the murderers, the video they provided.
Consider apologists for Fox News as one consider people who would re-broadcast Tokyo Rose's messages or people who would have exused such actions.
There ought to be some minimal standards that all media, regardless of ideology agree to when it comes to exploiting the sufferings of others. I'm not talking about censorship. I'm talking about self-regulation and doing the right thing.
