Do you see dead people?
...do you see(k) escape?...want nothing more than mindless entertainment?...what's your usual movie going need and/or takeaway?
For me, if I'm going to spend my own $coin on any flik...or for that matter, on anything...I see(k) a return...for movies, of course entertainment but more so some practical message application value.
...every movie no matter how Oscar worthy, ridiculous and/or downright lame has an inherent message...if one cares to engage their grey matter to apply some thought to see/identify it...most don't...unfortunately a downright lazy, mindless society...in the aggregate...our politics exposing this fundamental flaw more and more with each passing day.
...it (they) is what it is.
So here's one movie relevant message that always stuck with me, and storms to the forefront of my brain when reflecting on today's top headline story...Ukraine...and maybe the needle in the haystack germ of "solution nugget" to build upon and to finally send that depressing headline to the "headline obituary" section of the newsfeed....ie make it old news.
One of the truly great "dare me" (message) encounters of all time can be found in Star Wars 6 "Return of the Jedi". The desert scene where criminal dictator Jabba the Hut makes Luke Skywalker walk the plank to death below.
A quick refresh...and first time intro to "chik flik'ers":
